Music holdings in Swiss libraries and at the BCU Fribourg - An overview
The event is postponed due to Covid-19! For further information: florence.sidler@rism-ch.org
In Swiss libraries, there are music collections that are still not unpacked from their boxes and are not accessible to users. Often the upcoming and urgently needed processing is postponed indefinitely due to lack of resources. Sometimes the question also arises why a cantonal library does not accept music bequests, even though it would be obliged to do so by its explicit collection mandate. Where does the Cantonal Library of Fribourg (BCU) position itself in this regard? What music is catalogued in a three-year collaboration with RISM Switzerland? These and other questions will be dealt with in this paper. It offers an overview of the current situation of music collections in Swiss libraries and at the BCU Fribourg.
The following concert for four voices and organ accompaniment will feature works exclusively from the holdings of Montorge Monastery. The compositions reflect the sacred and liturgical musical repertoire of the Capuchin nuns in the 18th and 19th centuries.
