Cataloguing project in the Provincial Archives of the Swiss Capuchins

Thursday, January 26, 2023

Since the summer of 2022, the Swiss RISM Centre has been cataloguing the music collection from the Provincial Archives of the Swiss Capuchins in the Wesemlin Monastery in Lucerne. This is the first time that the holdings of a Capuchin monastery have been systematically catalogued. Although the music tradition of the Minorite friars does not go back very far, due to the long-lasting rejection of church music, the holdings, almost exclusively from the 20th century, are very extensive. They contain primarily liturgical music for daily prayers and mass celebrations. In the RISM-Online, the easiest way to find the sources that have already been indexed is to use the siglum search (CH-Lw).
