Friday, May 5, 2017

In *September* 2016 the concert program collection of the library of the “Conservatoire de Musique de Genève” was published in the series RISM digital library. Thus, some 12,000 items were added to the On Stage database, which already documented the programs of the “Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne – Conservatoire de Lausanne (HEMU-CL)”.

At the beginning of the 1980s Jacques Horneffer, librarian of the “Conservatoire de Musique de Genève”, discovered a collection of concert programs from the town, consisting of about 12,000 units from the years 1826-1940. Today it is kept in the same library under shelf number Rlg 35. The collection was edited 2014-2016 by RISM Switzerland. First, the entire collection was digitized, whereupon the data was indexed the text is automatically read using OCR technology to enable a full-text search. The indexes were compiled by a co-worker of the library under the supervision of RISM Switzerland and the library director. Merging both OnStage projects (“HEMU-CL” and “Conservatoire de Musique de Genève”) enables to expand the area of research on both cities. The homepage guarantees both a clear presentation of the different collections as well as optimal search functionality over the entire corpus.
