About us

The RISM Digital Center is the central hub for information technology questions within the global RISM community. In particular, it is in charge of managing the development of Muscat, the open-source web application used by the RISM community for inventorying sources and curating data worldwide. It has the responsibility to ensure in the background the smooth functioning of the RISM community at the international level and to continually improve the digital infrastructure of the project.

RISM Switzerland

The RISM Digital Center is the home of the RISM Switzerland, the Swiss national branch of RISM. It is based at the Swiss national library in Bern and has been recording music manuscripts and printed musical sources in Swiss libraries and archives since 1956. RISM Online

RISM Online, a service from RISM Digital, provides our user communities with access to the RISM data, including sources, people, institutions, and a musical incipit search.

RISM Editorial Center

Visit the website of the RISM Editorial Center in Frankfurt am Main. It is the contact point for participants and other interested people, and provides support to the over 30 working groups around the world.

Tools and services

The RISM Digital Center is active in the development of tools and services at the service of the RISM community and beyond. It leads the development of Muscat, and is responsible for its installation and administration. It also created and maintains Verovio, an open-source software library for rendering Music Encoding Initiative (MEI) scores.
